James Varley, Founder and CEO of Host Planet, has been named one of the 50 “Truvisionaries” in the global short-term rental industry by Truvi.
The Truvisionaries 2026 initiative highlights influential voices who are helping short-term rental (STR) hosts and property managers build stronger, more professional businesses. The list was created using nominations from across the industry, identifying individuals who consistently share practical knowledge and insights with the global vacation rental community.
For James, the recognition reflects the rapid growth of Host Planet as a media and education platform for the global STR sector.
Founded in 2023, Host Planet produces podcasts, e-books, events, newsletters, and video content aimed at helping hosts, property managers, and industry professionals improve performance, increase revenue, and build sustainable operations.
Through its podcast network, YouTube shows, and live events, Host Planet’s content now reaches listeners and viewers in more than 100 countries, while the platform has collaborated with many of the industry’s leading brands, including Hostfully, Sykes Holiday Cottages, Hospitable, PriceLabs, Guesty, Hostaway, and many more.
The Truvisionaries programme was launched by Truvi – a technology company that helps vacation rental operators screen guests and protect properties across booking channels – to highlight operators, educators, and innovators who are actively improving the industry.
James’s inclusion in the list recognises Host Planet’s growing influence as a hub for education, collaboration, and discussion within the STR space.

The Truvisionaries recognition preceded another accolade for James. This week, he was named one of Yorkshire’s “42 Under 42” by Insider Media, an annual list celebrating young business leaders demonstrating entrepreneurial flair and driving innovation across the region.
Speaking about the recognition, James said: “The short-term rental industry is full of incredibly talented people who are building innovative businesses, sharing knowledge, and raising standards across the sector. To be recognised alongside so many respected operators, educators, and leaders is a real honour.
“It’s also a huge privilege to be included in Yorkshire’s 42 Under 42. Through the NatWest Accelerator programme I’ve seen first-hand how many outstanding entrepreneurs are building businesses in the region, so to be recognised among them is both humbling and incredibly motivating.”
As Host Planet continues to expand its podcasts, YouTube content, and events such as the Host Planet Roadshow, the platform aims to play an increasingly important role in helping STR professionals navigate a rapidly evolving industry.
And if the past three years are anything to go by, the journey is only just beginning.
